Tasks in detail:

• usually each group woks out a separate chapter
• The material (teachers notes, personal notes, books) should be completed, worked out in detail, reformatted etc.
• The result should be typed in LaTeX
• Goal: A person who is not attending the lecture should be able to understand the material by thoroughly reading the notes - therefore: please explain, explain, explain..
• Often a picture says more than thousand of words - so support your arguments with figures/pictures (for example, create them with xfig, export into .eps format and then integrate into the text.
• If you need help (like: how to operate xfig, latex, how to download, upload etc.), please contact Michael Junk (email) or Marc Tobias Wenzel (email)

You can also help us and contribute in many other ways:

• Download and print a chapter, read through it, add your comments, improvements, remarks (handwritten but legibly!) and return it to a member of the corresponding group (or if you are fond in LaTeX: print out and check the chapter source *.tex)
• Create your own appendix-chapter an a topic you like (some relation to the lecture should be there , of course). If you investigate something more deeply, let others participate! Write down your findings, conclusions etc.
• Who can offer proof reading / Xfig advice / Xdvi / gv-substitution.?
• Who can create a list of recommended literature?

Hints:

Creating *.eps image files:

1. Use xfig for drawing
2. Save your work in *.fig format
3. Export it to Encapsulated Postscript
4. You can also use gv to view the *.eps files

Working with LaTeX:

1. Compile with LaTex: latex notes.tex (twice for setting refences)
2. To see the document use xdvi notes.dvi (likely the figures are invisible then)
3. To convert to postscript use dvips -o notes.ps notes.dvi
