Mini-Symposium at 18th GM of the European Women in Mathematics University of Graz, September 7th 2018, 9:00-12:30 This minisymposium is part of the programme of the 18th General Meeting of the Europe Women in Mathematics (EWM-GM 2018), at the University of Graz, September 3-7 2018. A schedule of the EWM-GM 2018 is available here where this minisymposium is identified with the number 5! This minisymposium will bring together researchers interested in different branches of real algebraic geometry as well as its connections to other mathematical domains such as convexity, optimization, functional analysis and operator theory. The main purpose is to highlight the great potential of the interplay between real algebraic geometry and those areas, and so to promote further interactions. In particular, the topics of interest will include sum-of-squares representations of non-negative polynomials (in commutative and non-commutative algebras), the dual problem of moments, and their applications. Structure As this minisymposium aims to be accessible to all the participants of the EWM meeting, it will consists of an introductory survey on the main topic followed by five talks focusing each on a specific aspect of the interplay between real algebraic geometry and other areas. Organisers Maria Infusino (Universität Konstanz, Germany) Salma Kuhlmann (Universität Konstanz, Germany) For any enquires please contact kwim@uni-konstanz.de or directly one of the organizers. 26.
